On assignment for People Magazine on a cover shoot on highly anticipated ISHTAR (1987) starring Dustin Hoffman and Warren Beaty. Warren is beyond camera-shy, sometimes he wouldn’t even go to the shoots. I wasn’t sure if he’d show up, but 45 minutes after we were scheduled to shoot, I turned to Dustin for help, and suddenly Warren appeared. He said he had five minutes and then he was leaving. Thank god I brought props. Dustin and I put him through the wringer for as long as we head him, which stretched to about 20 minutes. It’s so nice to see after all this time that Ishtar is being reappraised. Martin Scorsese has said it’s one of his favorite films ever.
